Former All-Ireland winner questioned over allegedly attacking a 12-yr-old child with a weapon

A former All-Ireland champion allegedly assaulted a child last year, leading to his detention and interrogation, reports RTE.

The man with the tool showed up in October of last year, when the 12-yr-old boy and some other kids and teens were in an empty allotment.

The youngster was assaulted and critically hurt, while the other kids fled.

He was brought to Limerick’s University Hospital and received medical attention there, reports RTE.

The youngsters were among the many persons who the Gardaí interrogated as part of their criminal inquiry.

Last Monday, the individual was taken into custody, interrogated, and then released without facing any charges.

We’ll send the Director of Public Prosecutions a file on the matter.

In a statement today, gardaí said: “The man was detained at a garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He has since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions,” reports RTE.
