Former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean Fitzpatrick has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to 27 charges put to him.
These charges include 21 counts of making a misleading, false or deceptive statement to auditors, and six charges of furnishing false information in the years 2002 to 2007.
A jury panel composed of seven men and eight women has now been selected for the trial, which is expected to last three months.
The demise of Anglo Irish Bank put a 64bn millstone around the neck of the Irish taxpayer after the institution’s collapse.
