A former BBC presenter and pastor from Wales has been jailed for over 10 years after confessing to three decades of of sexual abuse.
Benjamin Thomas, who had worked for Wales Today and the Welsh language kids show ‘Ffeil’, was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to 40 offenses according to the Guardian. The 44 year old was also a pastor at a family church in Gwynedd, north Wales.
The court heard that Thomas sexually assaulted boys and men, usually during their sleep. It is understood the majority of his victims were male teenagers, many of whom were unaware of the abuse until being traced by police. He also admitted to covertly filming boys using the toilet and shower.
The Judge said that Thomas had used a ‘facade of respectability’ to get away with the abuse, which he began inflicting aged just 14 or 15. He was sentenced to 10 year and 4 months in jail.
