Former England International goalkeeper Gordon Banks has sadly passed away aged 81, his family have confirmed.
Banks who is considered to be a legend of the sport and one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, passed away peacefully overnight.
In a statement released via his former club Stoke City, the Banks family said the following: “It is with great sadness that we announce that Gordon passed away peacefully overnight.
“We are devastated to lose him but we have so many happy memories and could not have been more proud of him.
“We would ask that the privacy of the family is respected at this time.”
Banks had previously revealed that he was battling kidney cancer for the second time back in 2016.
