Merrill Rabus, a 54 yearly man was hit by a vehicle as he was cycling on a public road in Wichita, Kansas.

It’s alleged that Mr Rabus was knocked off his bike by a car driven by Charity Blackmon, a 31 year-old woman who then allegedly got out of her car, pulled a gun on Mr Rabus as he lay on the ground than fired a single shot at him.

He was rushed to hospital by paramedics, but died shortly afterwards, with Blackmon charged with first-degree murder according to the Metro.

Blackmon fled the scene however eyewitnesses gave police information that helped track her down soon afterwards. Blackmon is in jail pending her court hearing. No motive has been released and it is thought that Mr Rabus is not known to Blackmon.

Mr Rabus had turned his life around after an epiphany whilst in prison, having suffered homelessness and drug addiction for many years.
