Former Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan has officially been nominated for a second 5-year stint as EU Commissioner in Brussels.
Mr. Hogan, one of the main architects of the Irish Water debacle, has received backing from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to continue in the cushy EU job for another while.
The former minister recently landed himself in hot water again in the wake of the Mercosur deal, which will allow for large amounts of meat to be imported from South America, to the potential detriment of Irish farmers’ livelihoods.
