Former footballer Adam Johnson has been released from prison after serving half of his sentence.
Johnson who was convicted in 2016, for engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, was released from HMP Moorland on Friday .
According to BBC News, Johnson who has since been reunited with his family when his father arrived at the prison in the prison in the early hours of this morning to collect him.
Although no official family statement has been made, BBC News say Johnson’s father told them that his son may release a statement in the coming days ahead.
Johnson was sentenced to six years in prison after he was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old Sunderland fan.
