Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean says he’s sort of okay following horrific crash




Formula 1 racing driver Romain Grosjean has said that he is sort of okay following his horrific crash at Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix.

Grosjean who was hospitalised with burns to his hands and ankles took to Instagram to post a message to fans thanking them for their support.

The Frenchman who miraculously escaped the horrific crash which saw his car split in half and engulfed in flames, told his followers: “Hello everyone, just wanted to say I am okay, well… sort of okay.”

“Thank you very much for the messages.”

The Haas driver who emerged from the flames also told his followers that despite not being initially in favour of the halo system which protects drivers from serious head injuries, he said that he was grateful for the system as he would not be here today.

Grosjean who smashed into a barrier at 140mph and at a force of 53G managed to escape alive despite being inside the engulfed car for almost 20 seconds after the crash.

The 34 year old also thanked medical staff who were at the track for their swift actions,  he added that he hopes to provide further updates about his condition in the coming days.
