
Fota Wildlife Park in Co Cork has declared it will stay closed on Tuesday and Wednesday due to suspected bird flu cases, reports Breaking News.
In a statement, Fota’s online management reported that after notifying the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine about possible avian flu cases, the park will temporarily halt public access for two days.
“Further updates will be shared online,” reports Breaking News.
Fota Wildlife Park hosts over 100 animal species, many of which are endangered or at risk of extinction in the wild.
The park engages in European Endangered Species Programmes for animals like the Asian lion, Indian rhino, Northern cheetah, and red panda, reports Breaking News.
It works with zoological organizations across Europe and the UK, guided by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria. The park first welcomed visitors in June 1983.
