There was sad news this past bank holiday weekend as the founder of the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) Mary Redmond, has died aged 64.
The IHF was founded over 30 years ago by Dr Redmond after she was grateful for the care her father, Dr John Redmond, received “in the expert and loving hands” of staff at Our Lady’s Hospice in Harold’s Cross in Dublin.
The CEO of the Irish Hospice Sharon Foley gave tribute to Dr Redmond, whom she described as “an inspirational and visionary leader and one of the founders of the hospice movement in Ireland”. “We are deeply saddened to hear of the news of Dr Redmond’s passing. She had foresight, determination and generosity of spirit and we are very proud today to continue with her work,”.
