Free legal aid granted for 38-yr-old man in connection with a hammer attack on another man (20s) in Cork

A 38-yr-old man has been charged over a hammer attack that left a man in his 20s hospitalised in critical condition while his mother, in her 60s, was seriously injured.

According to RTE, Ian Horgan, 38, formerly of The Hermitage in Macroom and Ballincollig, Co Cork, appeared in Cork District Court where he was charged with four offences.

Detective Sergeant Mick O’Halloran testified to the arrest, charge and reprimand. He said he arrested Mr Horgan at Cork District Court and charged him with the four offences.

Horgan did not respond when the accusation was cautiously presented to him.

Free legal aid was granted to Horgan by the Judge.
