A notorious French criminal has staged a spectacular break out from prison using a helicopter.
46-year-old Redoine Fahid escaped from Reau Prison earlier today, aided by three heavily armed accomplices.
Fahid got on the helicopter and was gone in seconds. The craft was later found abandoned.
This is the second time that Fahid, a career criminal, manages to escape from prison in spectacular fashion. Back in 2013, he used dynamite to blast a hole in a prison wall. He was recaptured six weeks later.
French authorities have now launched a city-wide manhunt in Paris.
