The specific batch in question has a use-by date of 26 July. While this date has passed, the FSAI warned that some consumers may have stored the burgers in their freezers.
It advised anyone who bought the product to inspect their freezers and avoid consuming the affected batch, reports RTE.
The FSAI confirmed the recalled product is the 400g package of Hogan’s Farm Turkey Burgers, carrying the approval number IE 827 EC.
Salmonella symptoms typically appear between 12 and 36 hours after exposure, though the timeframe can vary from six to 72 hours, reports RTE.
Diarrhoea—sometimes containing blood—is the most frequently reported symptom, along with fever, abdominal cramps, and headache.
Older adults, young children, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for more serious illness, which may occasionally require hospitalisation.
Notices about the recall will be posted at the point of sale, reports RTE.
