Funeral details announced for young mother sadly found dead after medical emergency at Limerick hotel

Funeral details were shared on Saturday for a young mother-of-one who was found dead at a Limerick city hotel last Wednesday, reports The Mirror.

Clodagh Ferguson, aged 25, from Mill Road, Corbally in County Limerick, was confirmed dead at the Clayton Hotel at approximately 10.20pm on July 16.

In a statement on Thursday, the Garda Press Office said: “Gardaí assisted emergency services with a medical emergency at a premises in Limerick City, Wednesday 16th July 2025” and that “a woman was pronounced deceased by ambulance personnel”, reports The Mirror.

A post-mortem examination was carried out and Gardaí do not believe there was any foul play involved in Ms Ferguson’s death.

In an online announcement Saturday, Ms Ferguson’s family said: “It is with broken hearts we announce the death of our beloved and cherished Clodagh Ferguson, Meadow brook, Mill Road, Corbally, Limerick, on July 16th 2025, unexpectedly,” reports The Mirror.

The notice mentioned that her remains would lie in repose at Cross’s Funeral Home, Gerald Griffin Street, on Monday, July 21, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

A funeral mass for Ms Ferguson will be held at 1pm in St John’s Cathedral, Cathedral Place, Limerick City, with cremation to follow at Shannon Crematorium, Shannon, County Clare, reports The Mirror.

The Ferguson family requested “no flowers please” and that “donations, if desired” could be made to “Adapt House”, Limerick.

“To respect the family’s wishes at this time the House is Strictly Private at all times. ‘To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die’,” concluded the notice, reports The Mirror.

Hundreds of people expressed their sympathies and paid tribute to Ms Ferguson through social media.

One friend wrote: “Rest in Peace gorgeous girl thinking of your little boy and your family at this time so heartbreaking.”

Another stated: “RIP Clodagh I hope you have found peace and that your little boy and family have the strength to get through this heartbreaking time xx,” reports The Mirror.

Another posted: “Rest in peace with the angels. My condolences to your family friends and relatives. May God watch over them all,” reports The Mirror.

One woman described Ms Ferguson as “another angel gone too soon”.

“Fly high and free condolences to her family give them strength at this sad time just heart breaking,” the woman added, reports The Mirror.

Sources familiar with the case said a post-mortem was to be conducted on Thursday to help authorities determine the cause of her death.

Ms Ferguson is mourned by her mother Sonia, her son Dylan, Dylan’s father Dominic, her sisters Allida and Abi, and her grandparents Ann and Tom O’Halloran and Chris Ferguson, reports The Mirror.
