There could be further strike action in the public transport sector as Management at Bus Éireann is set to announce today that they want to restructure their Expressway inter-regional coach service.
It is understood strike action could arise if the company decides to enforce cuts. It is also believed Trade unions at Bus Éireann are seeking pay rises for the 2,600 staff when they meet management at the Workplace Relations Commission.
However, such a rise will most likely be rejected as management at the company are looking to cut losses by introducing new measures to keep its Expressway network operational.
