There was further tragedy on Irish roads this past weekend as a man aged in his 80s was sadly killed in a road traffic incident on Sunday night.
Gardaà say the elderly man was killed after the car which he was driving collided with a pole at Coolcullen in Castlecomer at approximately 8pm last night.
They say the man was the sole occupant of the vehicle and his body has since been transferred to University Hospital Waterford.
An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
