Commuters may face more travel misery in the near future, as an ongoing dispute over pay and conditions at Irish Rail is looking likely to escalate into further strike action.
According to the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) general secretary Dermot O’Leary, frustration among drivers has reached “fever pitch”.
The row centres around pay cuts and demands for increased productivity, as well as a rising number violent and drunken incidents on board trains and stations.
