Former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke, says that recent gangland killings should lead to the reopening of Fitzgibbon St Garda station.

Councillor Burke, a Dublin central election candidate, says it is completely wrong that in the last number of years 200 Gardaí have been taken from his area. He urgently calls for he reopening of the station.

“Remember in this constituency you have Fitzgibbon street Garda Station closed, you have Cabra Garda Station closed, works on a part-time basis.

“200 and odd Gardaí gone out of this area. You only had to look at last week’s slaughter of Mr Hutch and that tells you where crime is, and where there was a lack of Gardaí even prior to that.”
