Garda are appealing on Dublin school incident misinformation, claiming it was “two Irish students” in a fight, not a migrant

The public is being urged by the GardaĆ to double-check information found on social media and messaging applications after an incident at a Dublin school, reports RTE.

Over the last two days, a number of far-right accounts have disseminated false information on the event, claiming that an adult immigrant with a knife was involved.

The gardaĆ indicated in a statement that everyone engaged in this event is an Irish national and student.

It said that no adult man was involved and that the incidence was limited to the school, reports RTE.

Regarding this event, the administration of a nearby secondary school is in contact with the local GardaĆ.

Additionally, the Director of the Garda Youth Diversion Program has been consulted, according to the GardaĆ.

The statement continued: “An Garda SĆochĆ”na is very conscious of the volume of misinformation and fake news in circulation regarding this incident – particularly on social media and direct messaging platforms. An Garda SĆochĆ”na appeal to all members of the public and the media to independently verify any information published on social media and/or messaging apps,” reports RTE.
