The Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has confirmed that new anti-corruption unit within the force.
Speaking at the Association of Superintendents conference in Co Kildare, today Harris said the new wulm will be put in place at the end of the year.
Harris said the new unit which will be based in the Phoenix Park will actively stamp out any corruption within the force.
The Garda Commissioner also said that the unit will work closely with the Garda Ombudsman once it is set up.
He added that all forms of corruption within the force will be stamped out and the purpose of the new unit will find such cases that normally go unnoticed.
