A Garda has been injured in a hit-and-run incident on an Irish motorway.
The incident happened on the M1 motorway, near Junction 20 (Jonesborough) in Co. Louth.
It is understood that a male Garda was hit by a car that was ordered to stop. The vehicle appeared to do so at first, but suddenly drove away at speed.
The Garda’s injuries are believed to be ‘serious’ but not life-threatening.
