Garda investigation continues after postman attacked by alsatian dogs in Tipperary

After reportedly being savaged by two Alsatian dogs in north county Tipperary, a postman is receiving significant medical attention at a hospital, reports Breaking News.

The two dogs attacked the male postal worker last Thursday when he was delivering something to a house in Kilcommon.

According to sources, the 50-year-old post man had severe bite wounds to his lower torso and both legs, reports Breaking News.

According to a local source, the man approached the property’s perimeter believing the way was secure and was “devoured” by the two dogs.

It is said that when the postman was delivering something, the two dogs came out of the back of the house, reports Breaking News.

Sources said the man managed to make his way to a neighbouring property where he raised the alarm.

A spokesman for An Post said it was aware of the incident.

“We can confirm that our colleague was the victim of a serious dog attack but as the matter is now in the hands of the authorities there is nothing else we can add at this stage,” read a statement released by An Post, reports Breaking News.

According to sources, the man was able to get to a nearby property and sound the alarm there.

An Post spokesperson acknowledged knowledge of the occurrence.

According to a source, a retired nurse helped the man before the emergency services were called, reports Breaking News.

Paramedics treated the injured postman close to the site, and an HSE ambulance took him to the hospital.

According to a garda source, gardaí were monitoring the canines’ condition and the situation was being probed.

“We are making enquiries into this and hope to revert with a statement in due course,” a Garda spokesperson said Monday in response to a request for comment, reports Breaking News.
