Gardaí in Co Cork have begun an investigation after 13 dead rabbits were deliberately laid near a school in the village of Conna on Tuesday morning.
The investigation comes after a number of people including children saw the rabbits whilst they were walking to school.
In an image shared Conna Community Council Facebook page, the thirteen dead rabbits can be seen laid on the footpath near the school.
The incident prompted the community council to post the following message: “Why in the world would anyone lay out thirteen dead rabbits in a row on the path to the school this morning?” the Conna Community Council post began.
“Some of them just babies. Thanks to Patrick for clearing them away.”
“Sorry for the children who had to see that on the way to school.”
Meanwhile Gardaí have since confirmed that they are investigating the incident and they are currently reviewing CCTV footage in the area.
They also say they are appealing for anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area to come forward and contact them.
