Gardai in Co Clare have launched an investigation after a woman has been left seriously injured following an alleged assault.
According to The Irish Mirror, the woman was attacked in Market Square of Ennis at approximately 6pm on Thursday evening.
It is understood that the woman was taken to University Hospital Limerick where she remains in critical condition.
Gardai say a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
