Garda investigation underway after a man aged in his 20s is left in critical condition in hospital following a serious assault in Tallaght

Gardaí in Tallaght have launched an investigation after a man sustained serious head injuries following an assault on Tuesday.

It is understood the man aged in his 20s was attacked on the Blessington Road at approximately 7pm.

Gardaí say the man was quickly rushed to Tallaght Hospital by a unit from Dublin Fire Brigade, where he currently remains in critical condition.

They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
