Gardai in Co Monaghan have begun an investigation after a man was seriously injured following a road traffic collision on Thursday.
It is understood that the man aged in his 40s was seriously injured after the van he was travelling in collided with a lorry on the N2 at Lisseagh near Emyvale at approximately 3.40pm.
Gardai say the injured man was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital where he remains in serious condition.
They added that the driver of the lorry was uninjured in the incident.
