Gardaí have launched an investigation after a prisoner was allegedly raped at Midlands Prison.
According to The Irish Daily Star newspaper, the prisoner was allegedly raped by six prisoners earlier this month.
The Daily Star say the attack repeatedly occurred in an area of the prison which houses convicted sex offenders, on August 5th.
Gardaí say an investigation into the reported incident has begun and no further information will be released at this time.
