Gardaí in Co Galway have begun an investigation after an elderly woman was killed on a farm in Portumna.
It is understood the woman who was aged in her mid 70s, was struck by an agricultural vehicle on a farm near Boula at approximately 4pm in Friday afternoon.
Gardaí say the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and a forensic examination of the area is now taking place.
They also say the State Pathologist has been notified about the incident.
