Gardai in Co Longford have launched an investigation after an 11 year old boy was hospitalised following a hit and run incident on Wednesday afternoon.
The investigation comes after the young boy suffered a serious let injury following the incident which occurred are on the Granard Road, Edgeworthstown at approximatley 3.15pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Gardai investigating the incident say they are currently searching for a black SUV that failed to remain at the scene after the boy was struck.
It is understood the young boy was take to Tullamore General Hospital for treatment on a leg injury.
