Gardaí in Galway have begun an investigation after a group of demonstrators blocked a stretch of road on the N84 on Tuesday night.
It is understood the investigation comes after demonstrators congregated at Carrowbrowne to voice their objections to the increased presence of Garda checkpoints in the area.
Gardaí say that extra reinforcements were required to attend the scene at approximately 10pm.
However no arrests were made and the demonstration was ended at approximately 11pm.
