Gardaí in Co Longford have begun an investigation following a fatal fire in Ballinalee last nigh.
It is understood that an elderly gentleman in his 80’s tragically lost his life in the blaze which occurred at approximately 8pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene but were unable to rescue the man.
Gardaí say the mans remains have since been removed to Mullingar Mortuary.
