Gardaí in Co Cork have begun an investigation after two elderly women were attacked on Tuesday afternoon.
The investigation comes after the two women both aged in their 60s and 90s were approached two men at Castlegrounds, Macroom, on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3pm.
It is believed that both women were knocked to the ground before the ruthless thugs stole a handbag and fled the scene.
Gardaí say one of the victims an elderly woman aged in her 90s was taken to Cork University Hospital following the incident for treatment on minor injuries.
They also say the two assailants have been described as being tall, thin and aged in their late teens or early 20s.
