Gardaí in Dublin have started an investigation into a fatal shooting incident at Harty Avenue in Walkinstown, last night.
It is understood that the shooting occurred at approximately 9.30pm, were a man believed to be in his 60s was shot outside a house on Harty Avenue. The victim was quickly rushed to St James’s Hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. Gardai say that they found a car which was burnt out short distance away on John McCormack Avenue. They also say that the scene of the shooting and the area where the vehicle was discovered were sealed off so a forensic technical examination can take place.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Crumlin/Walkintown areas between 9pm and 10pm to contact them at Crumlin Garda Station on 01 666 6200.
