Gardaí in Cork have begun an investigation following an alleged sexual assault in the city over the weekend.
It is understood the investigation comes after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The attack is understood to have occurred in the Connolly Rd/Vicars Rd, area of Ballyphehane in the city.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area between the hours of 4am and 7am to come forward and contact them.
