A Garda is recovering this morning from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident on the country’s biggest motorway.
The incident happened on the M1 motorway, near Junction 20 (Jonesborough) in Co. Louth on Saturday afternoon.
It is understood that a male Garda was hit by a car that was ordered to stop. The vehicle appeared to do so at first, but suddenly drove away at speed.
The Garda’s injuries are believed to be ‘serious’ but not life-threatening.
