Light snowfalls since Monday evening have covered most parts of Leinster and with many inland counties are seeing severe black ice on several roads, including B roads that haven’t been gritted.
This in turn has left roads extremely slippy, with black ice prominent on most roads from 3am until 10am.
Both the gardai and the AA have issued warnings to motorists to leave early, drive slow and to try and avoid roads that haven’t been gritted.
More snow is expected over the coming 24 hours with council workers gritting as many roads as possible before the next snowfall.
