SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket blasts off on its test flight




The brand new Falcon Heavy rocket was launched today on a test flight, marking a significant landmark in space exploration history.

Twenty seven engines power the SpaceX flagship engineering marvel, making Falcon Heavy the world’s most powerful rocket in operation today.

Falcon Heavy blasted off at 3:45pm ET from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying Elon Musk’s red Tesla roadster on board. The vehicle’s stereo plays David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” on an endless loop as the rocket heads into deeper space. The billionaire recently announced plans to put the car into orbit around the sun.

SpaceX’s pioneering technology enables the booster rockets to be retrieved and reused, thus significantly lowering the costs of spaceflight. The boosters are guided back to ground after delivering their payload into space,
