Gardai advise motorists to take extra care over the bank holiday weekend saying they’ll have a lot of checkpoints around the country

Motorists are advised to be extra vigilant this bank holiday, and over the next 48 hours gardai claim there’ll be up to 25% more traffic on the roads until Tuesday.

They say that checkpoints will be pinpointed across the country and that people should slow down.

Gardai have asked motorists to give themselves extra time for their journey and drive slower to curtail the chances of either speeding or getting stuck in major traffic.

Some people say that gardai aren’t doing their actual job of policing criminals and that people driving 5 to 10km over the speed limits aren’t real criminals and that gardai just have to reach set targets per month and use these motorists as low-lying fruit.
