Gardaí in Co Offaly have launched an investigation after a young boy was injured following a suspected hit and run incident in Birr on Thursday evening.
It is understood the boy sustained minor injuries after he was knocked off his bicycle near the swimming pool in the town.
Gardaí say they are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact them and that they are particularly appealing for information on a silver or white saloon car which apparently fled the scene heading towards Scurragh.
