Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning covering the entire country, as heavy rain and gale force winds are forecast for the next 36 hours.
The warning came into effect at midnight last night and will remain in place until 12pm on Saturday.
Such dire weather situation is not a good omen for high street retailers at this crucial pre-Christmas time, as footfall is likely to be greatly diminished.
