Gardai appeal for witnesses after cyclist left in ‘serious condition’ after being hit by truck




A cyclist remains in hospital in ‘serious condition’ today as the Gardai appeal Tuesday night after witnessing a horrific crash in Galway.

The accident happened at around 6.00pm when a cyclist collided with an articulated lorry at Skerritt roundabout on Old Dublin Road, Renmore.

The cyclist, a 30-yr-old man, was taken from his seat by ambulance to Galway University Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

Yesterday evening the investigators conducted a technical inspection of the site, with local detours arranged for motorists.

Officials are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

A spokesperson for Gardaí confirmed: “Gardaí in Galway are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Renmore, Galway on Tuesday 17th January 2023. Shortly before 6:00 pm, Gardaí and Emergency Services were alerted to a collision involving a cyclist and an articulated lorry at the Skerritt Roundabout on the Old Dublin Road in Renmore,” reports The Mirror.
