Gardaí in Co Carlow have arrested a after they discovered around €1.2m in his car.
The arrest comes as part of Operation Thor. It is understood Gardaí stopped the man in his 50s shortly at around 8pm on Friday night at a checkpoint in Ballyvergal.
Gardaí say the man was arrested on suspicion of committing an offence under the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing) Act, 2010.
He is currently being detained at Carlow Garda station.
