Gardaí have arrested two people as part of a major investigation into fraud at a major Irish media broadcaster and at least one of those arrested is an employee at the broadcaster.
It is alleged that that a significant amount of money was misplaced from the company over a number of years and the missing money was only noticed when the employee was on leave, and management was alerted.
It was first revealed by the Sunday World that the Gardaí were informed about the suspected crime when an official complaint was made by executives from the well-known but as yet unnamed media outlet.
The Gardaí have made a public statement on the ongoing investigations saying that that “Two people were arrested as part of the investigation. They have since been released without charge and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
