Gardai challenge public to join in their dance after “successfully” putting it up to Swiss police by dancing to bring “joy” to communities with #JerusamaChallenge during Level 5 lockdown

Gardai have challenged the Irish public to participate in their “successful” dance show, safely at home in their bubble and socially distanced with friends.

As Irish communities continue to obey the strict 5km lockdown enforced by the Gardai, new footage of Gardai dancing to the tune of Jerusalema went viral.

Swiss Police produced a dance video and an Irish DJ based in Portugal who goes under the name of Frankie Beats challenged the Gardai police force on twitter to take some time off manning their 5km checkpoints and record their dance offs. The Swiss Police tweeted “looking forward to the performance” when hearing the Gardai were embracing the dance off.

Over the past few weeks, Gardai practicing for the dance off were spotted all over Ireland. One video went viral when Gardai were spotted on a rooftop dancing the day away. Now the mystery has been solved.

The Department of Justice official Twitter account tweeted “telling gardaí they had “got this” and called on them to “make Ireland proud”.
