Gardaí have confirmed that they have recovered the head from an 800-year-old Mummy known as the ‘Crusader’, after it was stolen from a crypt at St Michan’s Church in Dublin last month.

In an announcement made today, officers at Bridewell Garda Station, said they recovered the skull along with another skull after they received information during the course of their investigation.

The latest developments come after the crypt was badly damaged sometime between February 23rd and 25th.

It is understood that the remains of a 400-year-old nun were also badly damaged during the incident.

Gardaí say they believe that the desecration of the remains was not a simple act of vandalism, but instead it was a planned attack.

They also say they are currently in liason with the National History Museum as investigations continue.
