Gardaí have confirmed that it will no longer send state cases to the mortuary in University Hospital Waterford following concerns over its condition.
According to RTÉ News, the decision was made following consultation with the State Pathologists Office.
It is understood that all cases in the region will now be sent to Dublin following the decision.
The decision comes after a number of consultants raised concerns about the mortuary last week.
It is believed that consultants claimed that a number of bodies have been left decomposing in hospital’s mortuary.
