Gardaí have confirmed this afternoon that a body was been recovered from the base of the Cliffs of Moher.
The recovery of the body believed to be that of a missing Dublin man, was made at approximately 1:30pm by crews from the Irish Coast Guard and Garda water unit.
The man thought to be in his 50s was found after a search got underway early on Wednesday after a car the man is understood to have been driving, was found in a carpark at the cliffs.
It is understood two divers swam ashore and recovered the remains which were visible from the shoreline. The man’s body was taken back to the Coast Guard station in Doolin and later removed to University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem examination will be carried out.
