Gardai have confirmed that skeletal remains found in Cork on Monday belong to missing 47-year-old Kieran Gilligan.
A murder probe has now been launched, as Gardai believe Mr. Gilligan, who was known to be associated with local drug gangs, met a violent end.
Gardai expect to make some arrests soon.
