Gardai have confirmed that after the revelations that took place yesterday, which revealed a woman came forward and gave extensive and detailed evidence into the disappearance of missing schoolboy Philip Cairns, they have substantially reopened the case and are looking at new lines of inquiry.

A woman walked into Rathfarnham garda station last month and described how Philip was taken from his school walk home to a radio station in Insichore by Eamon Cooke, a now convicted child abuser.

She was with them at the station and witnessed a row break out where Cooke hit the young boy knocking him unconscious.

She then said she fainted and remembers waking up in Cooke’s car when he was driving her somewhere.

Gardai say:
“We’ve opened new lines of inquiry which include, interviewing people and cross referencing DNA profiles with those on items recovered during the initial investigation.”

“These new lines of inquiry have not yet been fruitful, however we are going to keep the investigation going in an effort to find a conclusion.”

Eamon Cooke died last week allegedly having refused to tell anyone where Philip Cairn’s remains are.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Rathfarnham garda station on 01-6666500 or the confidential line on 1800-666100
