Evil psycho Youssef Palani had a hatred for gays so he killed two innocent men he suspected were gay, gardaí have revealed, reports The Mirror.

His two victims, Aidan Moffitt, 42, and Michael Snee, 58, are both respected members of the Sligo community but neither has publicly announced their sexuality.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to the murders on both April 10 and 12 last year in the Central Criminal Court earlier this week.

The devout Muslim met them through a dating app and the violence used to kill them shocked even the toughest members of the gardaí, reports The Mirror.

Gardaí were forced to issue a warning to the public at the time to be very careful about who they meet on dating apps and ensure they actually know the other person.

A series of protests were held by LGBT pride groups across the country in the following days to protest the murder.

A senior Garda source said; “These were two homophobic motivated killings. They were carried out during Ramadan. The killer went to the mosque to pray after carrying out each murder. He has a hatred of gay men and says God told him to do it. We knew nothing about the private lives of either victims and to be honest it is none of our business. The killer deliberately targeted them because they lived alone and were single, they were unlucky, he could have picked anyone. He deliberately sought his victims out online,” reports The Mirror.

Palani caused widespread fear and panic in Sligo during the week of the murder before his eventual arrest.

According to prison sources, he is a model inmate who has great faith and prays daily. The Irish Prison Service accommodates all religions.

Gardaí are relieved that he pleaded guilty and that the victims’ families will not have to hear all the brutal details of his crimes and how each man died.

It is understood that each suffered a very violent and gruesome death, reports The Mirror.

He is likely to serve his sentence in one of Dublin jails.
